The Jerome Tigers softball team dropped their first two games on Friday but came back to win the silver bracket on Saturday at the Caldwell Win The Pitch Tournament. A slow start doomed the Tigers in game one versus the Hillcrest Knights as they dropped the time-limit shortened game 6-5 in 6 innings. Sophomore Payton Miller pitched 5 strong innings in relief for the Tigers while Seniors Emily Bragg and Brooklyn Jackson led the offence with two hits each. Jerome struggled in game two against Kuna dropping the contest 14-1. Junior Kailey Harrison’s RBI triple was the bright spot for the Jerome offense.
Jerome bounced back on Saturday taking the first game 13-6 against Madison. Sophomore Vivi Ortega led the offensive attack with 3 hits and 4RBI, including a three run home run, the first home run of her high school career. Harrison and Senior Mila Chavez also had two hits apiece, with Harrison adding a 2 run home run of her own. Harrison earned the complete game victory in the circle. Jerome got revenge for their opening game loss in the last game of the tournament beating Hillcrest 5-3. Freshman Abriana Hurtado and Senior Emily Bragg combined for the victory in the circle. Bragg and Hurtado also had two hits each in the game with Bragg delivering a two RBI double to seal the victory for Jerome. Once again, Ortega led the Tigers with 3 hits in the game.
Jerome moves to 7-4 on the season and plays at Wood River on Tuesday.
