On April 11, 2017, the freshman girls dominated their conference meet. The results showed the girl’s placing first in almost every event. As many members of the crowd mentioned Jerome blew the competition away.
According to Head coach Cory Musgrave, “The girls did amazing yesterday! We won 17 out of the 18 events I believe! Pretty awesome.”
Also as freshman Daniela Gonzalez said, “We didn’t have much competition. Most relays decided we’d run to improve our times as individual’s. At times it was actually harder to run without competition because we didn’t have anyone to catch when running.”
In addition, the boys had some competition. As the races went on, Jerome kept up with Twin, Minico, and Filer only a few of the running teams. Even though some of the events they didn’t take first, many got a new personal record. Many guys said they didn’t care if they got first or not. They wanted to improve their time, so they would know how much work they needed to put in before districts.
As the season reaches the halfway point, each individual is putting forth the extra work to increase their running times. Even though there are three years to try and qualify for state, the effort put in now is what counts.
